We’re excited to announce the release of Better and Better than Before…, a compilation by The Whistling Heads.

Following their excellent debut album, Dull Boy, The Whistling Heads have never stopped exploring and experimenting with new shades of sound to solidify the backbone of their style. Through the singles released over the past twelve months, you can sense an eager desire to shape and refine their expressiveness.

Better and Better than Before… is a collection full of surprises, featuring recently released tracks including singles, remixes, live versions, and several unreleased gems waiting to be discovered.

Well…I Mean, built on a captivating Moog riff, is an authentic dance-punk track that wouldn’t be out of place in the DFA catalog — a song later remixed in two outstanding versions by Gabe Gurnsey (Factory Floor).

Shut Me Up is a celebration of sadness as a way to grow and learn. Wreck is powerful and infectious, a reflection on the never-taken-for-granted value of life, born from the memory of a childhood car accident.

Dull Boy, an unreleased track that, inexplicably, didn’t make it onto the eponymous album, still in its demo version, carries a strong emotional uniqueness — that raw quality only certain demos can preserve.

Shoot Shoot is a live version recorded at the Dorothy Pax in Sheffield during their UK tour. It’s the track that consistently ignites a wild mosh pit at every show.

The Whistling Heads are exploring “new” sounds shaped by an intense and captivating mix of dance-punk and British crank wave. Despite the modernity of their sound, they retain a raw, instinctive edge — a blood-pumping pulse that doesn’t hide their introspective and declarative lyrics, almost like an anthem of underlying disappointment in a world in constant flux…

It doesn’t matter who they are or where they come from, whether they were born in Messina or will die in Birmingham — they write songs that stick to your tongue like glue, a rollercoaster ride against the current, a rainbow sliced by an airplane…

Dull Boy

Shoot Shoot
Work, eat, sleep, repeat.
All work and no play, I’m a dull boy, I’m a dull boy.
